Job Summary
We are seeking a Long Haul Project Engineer to support telecommunications long-haul fiber projects. This role will assist with project coordination, design review, documentation, field support, permitting, and communication between internal teams, vendors, construction crews, and the customer.
The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge in telecom, fiber optic networks, OSP engineering, long-haul fiber routes, utility coordination, permitting, and project tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Support long-haul fiber optic network projects from planning through execution.
- Review project designs, construction drawings, permits, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams, field crews, vendors, municipalities, and utility companies.
- Track project progress, milestones, deliverables, and pending items.
- Assist with right-of-way, permitting, utility coordination, and construction support.
- Review field data, redlines, as-builts, and project updates for accuracy.
- Help identify project risks, delays, design conflicts, or missing information.
- Maintain accurate project records, reports, and status updates.
- Support communication between engineering, construction, and customer teams.
- Ensure work is completed according to customer requirements, safety standards, and project timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in telecommunications, OSP, fiber, utility, construction, engineering, or project coordination.
- Understanding of fiber optic networks, long-haul fiber routes, or outside plant infrastructure.
- Ability to read and review construction drawings, maps, permits, and project documentation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple teams and follow up on pending action items.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work onsite or in the assigned project location as needed.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OSP fiber design, permitting, ROW, utility coordination, or telecom construction.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS tools, Google Earth, or telecom project tracking systems.
- Experience supporting long-haul fiber, FTTx, backbone fiber, or broadband deployment projects.
- Previous experience working with telecom carriers, engineering firms, or construction vendors.
Work Environment
This position may involve a combination of office-based coordination, project documentation, customer communication, and field/project support as needed. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced telecom project environment.
