Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) is responsible for using established procedures for inspection of detail parts, assemblies and purchased items or processes. The QAI must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings and digital models, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. This position must be able to communicate results of inspections to peers and supervisors verbally and in writing. Additional requirements include but not limited to programming and operating fixed or portable Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Inspects manufactured parts, assemblies, and accessories, for conformance to engineering specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices: Examines items for defects in materials, work, and damage occurring in transit.
- · First Part, In Process, Final and First Article Inspections
· Compares quantity and part number of items received with job data and other specifications to ensure completeness and accuracy of order.
· Performs functional checks as required
· Act as a liaison for Source Inspection activities
· Assist Engineering and Operations in the investigation of Non-Conforming product
· Inspects and measures items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment and functional operation in accordance with engineering drawings, digital models, parts manuals, company or military standards and other specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices.
· Approves or rejects items, and records inspection information in the Non-Conformance Record software
· Records inspection results on inspection records.
· Works in accordance with applicable FAA, AS9100 and ISO regulations and standards.
· Maintains inspection records.
· Demonstrates attention to detail.
· Assures compliance with quality system requirements as it applies to the outputs of this position.
· Inspect first article part and document, in detail, First Article Inspection reports per AS9102B
· Understand and apply principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Complies with prioritization of work schedule as established by their Manager.
· Work schedule may include evenings and weekends.
· Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.
· Participate in continuous improvement programs and Kaizens events
· Participate in Internal and External Customer and Regulatory Audits
· Program the CMM to check parts in accordance with engineering requirements
· Operate the CMM to validate parts meet engineering requirements
· Maintain quality records of Non-Conforming parts requiring MRB (Material Review Board) dispositions
· Understand the requirements and properly dispose of non-conforming parts and assemblies
· Maintains a Safe and Clean work area
· May perform other duties as required or assigned by team lead or manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Training/Education:
· Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
· ASQ or equivalent Certified Mechanical Inspector or demonstrated equivalent experience and skills.
Experience:
· 4+ years’ experience in precision mechanical and/or electrical components inspection.
· Extensive knowledge of common inspection measuring equipment including, surface plates, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, bore gages and dial indicators
· Familiarity with Quality System including ISO. Experienced with standard measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, optical comparator, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
· Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems
· Working knowledge of AS9102 for FAI’s
· Independently interpret and follow engineering specifications drawing. Experienced interfacing with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System such as JobBoss.

· Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings and digital models, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
· Able to communicate results of inspections to peers and supervisors verbally and in writing.
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference with the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Ability to interpret and work in accordance to Clearwater Engineering’s quality system QPs and manufacturing OPs pertaining to this position.
· Computer Skills: Excel Spreadsheets, Word processing, E-mail, Measuring equipment software.
· Must be able to lift 40 pounds independently
· Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, twist and walk for extended periods of time
· Must have 20/20 vision, can be corrected to 20/20
· Must not be color blind
Work Environment:
The employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and loud machinery or equipment. The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
