Job Overview
Pegasus Taverna in St. Clair Shores is an established full service Greek restaurant that has been open since 2011; its sister restaurant in Greektown, Detroit has been open since 1980. We are seeking a Line Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and a demonstrable understanding of kitchen operations. Familiarity with Greek food is a necessity. As a Line Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality dishes off the grill and stove. The habit of ensuring that food safety and sanitation standards are met is a necessity. This position requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment (all qualities of a successful professional kitchen). Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and other cooking tools.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper food handling practices.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant.
- Familiarity and experience with cooking Greek food.
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards helping others in the kitchen.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays. We are only closed on the 25th of December and Thanksgiving.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
