We are seeking an experienced Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team and help deliver exceptional care to our patients.
Job Summary
The Polysomnographic Technologist is a critical member of our healthcare team, responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep studies and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. This role requires a strong understanding of sleep medicine, technical proficiency, and a compassionate approach to working with patients of all ages, especially children.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct overnight and daytime sleep studies, including polysomnography, to monitor and record patients’ sleep patterns and physiological data.
- Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures, fitting monitoring equipment, and ensuring comfort.
- Perform CPAP/BiPAP titration studies, including mask fitting and real-time adjustments.
- Monitor and document vital signs, respiratory function, and sleep stages during studies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sleep data to support accurate diagnosis of sleep disorders.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
- Educate patients and families on sleep study procedures and equipment use as needed.
Administrative and Collaborative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, medical history, and study results.
- Collaborate with sleep medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
- Stay current with advancements in sleep medicine and participate in ongoing education and training.
- Ensure all procedures comply with clinic policies and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) or equivalent required.
- Experience conducting pediatric sleep studies is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to sleep medicine.
- Proficiency with polysomnographic equipment, CPAP/BiPAP therapy, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach to care.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
