ABOUT THE POSITION
Sugar Sugar Hawaiʻi Boutique is looking for a Retail Operations Specialist (Multi-Store) to help facilitate operations across our growing family of retail stores.
Although this is not a management position, you'll be working directly with ownership and upper management while supporting stores through operational projects, inventory movement, merchandising, process improvement, and company initiatives. It is a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in how a successful, growing business operates while helping strengthen it from the inside out.
Unlike a traditional retail position where you work primarily in one store, you'll regularly rotate between multiple Sugar Sugar locations, helping ensure our stores have the tools, systems, organization, and operational support they need to succeed.
Some days you may be coordinating inventory transfers between stores, organizing backstock areas, improving inventory accuracy, assisting with merchandising projects, processing shipments, or implementing new operational systems.
Other days you may be reorganizing operational spaces, helping launch company initiatives, improving store processes, assisting with special projects, or identifying opportunities to make our business stronger.
One of the most important aspects of this role is serving as Sugar Sugar's primary operational support contact at least once each week (typically on Saturdays).
When unexpected situations arise—such as employee call-outs, shift coverage needs, attendance updates, or routine operational questions—you'll be the first point of contact for our store teams. You'll help coordinate coverage, communicate with store leadership, answer routine operational questions, and resolve issues whenever possible before they ever need to reach ownership or upper management. When something requires additional guidance, you'll know when and how to appropriately escalate it.
We also utilize a unique scheduling model called the FLEX Schedule.
Floor Days are spent working alongside our store teams serving customers, helping with merchandising, inventory, and daily operations while staying connected to the realities of each location.
FLEX Days focus on operational improvement. You might be moving inventory between stores, improving inventory flow, organizing backstock, implementing new systems, solving operational challenges, or helping leadership roll out new company initiatives.
Whether it's a Floor Day or a FLEX Day, one thing never changes: Our customers and our teams always come first. If a store suddenly gets busy, you'll jump in to help wherever needed before returning to your scheduled projects.
We believe operational excellence begins with ownership. That doesn't mean acting like the boss. It means caring about the success of the company as though it were your own.
We're looking for someone who naturally asks:
- What needs attention?
- How can I make this store stronger?
- How can I better support this team?
- How can we improve this process for the future?
Sometimes you'll solve the problem yourself. Sometimes you'll help the store team solve it. Other times you'll bring the opportunity to leadership so together we can create a better long-term solution.
If you enjoy variety, love solving problems, naturally encourage the people around you, and want to help build something meaningful, this may be the perfect role for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Examples of projects and responsibilities include:
- Support multiple Sugar Sugar locations with day-to-day operational needs.
- Help teams better organize and maintain backstock areas so inventory is easily accessible and ready for replenishment.
- Coordinate inventory transfers, customer holds, and store supplies between locations.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and communicate replenishment needs.
- Assist with shipment processing, tagging, sensor application, and inventory counts.
- Support merchandising projects and operational improvements.
- Help implement new systems, technology, and company initiatives.
- Observe stores with fresh eyes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as the primary Saturday operational support contact for employee call-outs, attendance updates, shift coverage, and routine operational questions.
- Coordinate solutions, communicate with store leadership, and appropriately escalate significant issues when needed.
- Jump in wherever needed to support customers and teammates during busy periods.
- Encourage, support, and help strengthen every Sugar Sugar team you work alongside.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone who:
- Has an ownership mindset.
- Naturally encourages and builds others up.
- Brings positive energy that lifts those around them.
- Notices details others overlook.
- Takes initiative without constant direction.
- Enjoys solving problems and making organizations stronger.
- Thrives on variety rather than routine.
- Communicates professionally.
- Is dependable, organized, and adaptable.
- Leads through example rather than authority.
- Brings enthusiasm, urgency, and purpose to every workday.
- Wants to grow professionally as our company grows.
Retail experience is helpful, but not required. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, emotional ownership, and willingness to learn are even more important.
