American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Neurosurgery and ENT unit position requiring a NC or compact RN license and at least one year of nursing experience.

18-bed acute post-op unit serving Neurosurgery and ENT patients at a major academic medical center
-
Neurosurgery cases include brain and spinal surgeries, traumas, cancer, stroke, and intracranial bleeds
-
ENT cases include head and neck malignancies, cancer, infection, and procedures involving the head, mouth, tongue, jaw, thyroid, and oropharynx

Patient ratio of 1:5

Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)

Every other weekend (EOW) required
-
No on-call required

Active RN license in North Carolina (or compact license with NC as primary state)

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)

Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required

Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing program required; BSN or MSN preferred

Two professional references required for consideration

Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

May be required to function as charge nurse as needed; training will be provided

Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and plan patient care
-
Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required by the patient care plan
-
Assesses and addresses discharge planning needs for patients with complex care situations
-
Holiday coverage required every other holiday (EOH)

A background check and drug screen are required prior to start; candidates should be prepared for a processing time of at least two weeks
