Job Overview
The Laborer I supports daily operations on construction sites by assisting with site preparation, material handling, and general labor tasks. This is an entry-level position that provides hands-on training and opportunities to develop skills, including learning to operate heavy equipment, while working in a safe, team-oriented environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with site preparation, setup, and general construction activities
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment
- Perform site cleanup to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools under supervision
- Support skilled trades and equipment operators by providing materials and assistance as needed
- Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, grading, and backfilling
- Assist with the installation of temporary structures, fencing, or barricades
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and job site guidelines
- Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors to support project progress
Schedule Expectations
- Willingness and ability to work out of town for extended periods of time as required by project needs
- Overtime, including evenings and weekends, should be expected
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor construction environment
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Sufficient vision, hearing, and coordination to safely perform job duties and respond to job site hazards
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
