The CU DCAMH, PMHI, and CHCO are combining to transform children’s mental health care in Colorado, building a coordinated system, grounded in collaboration and partnership, that provides all children with high-quality, evidence-based, youth- and family-centered care through an ambitious and comprehensive strategic plan. As part of this transformative work, we are seeking a Clinical Director of Intensive Services to join our efforts who has a vision towards advancing clinical care, research, and education to further the mission of the Hospital-Based Section as a national leader in child mental health services. This leader will be dedicated to improving care for patients served in the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU) and the Neuropsychiatric Special Care (NSC) Inpatient and Day Treatment programs within the PMHI Section of Hospital-Based Services.
Preferred is an individual with demonstrated programmatic leadership and experience working within a high-functioning, interdisciplinary, academic pediatric mental health program and team. In collaboration with other leaders, the Clinical Director of Intensive Services will be responsible for overseeing development and delivery of clinical programming, monitoring quality and regulatory efforts, and optimizing clinical operations to ensure outstanding performance on the quadruple aim. The Clinical Director is also responsible for supporting the training and research missions of PMHI/CHCO and DCAMH/DOP at CU within IPU/NSC, sustaining and growing the Section, enhancing multi-disciplinary quality and research programs, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
Ideal candidates should have proven interdisciplinary clinical leadership experience and skills, a strong clinical practice background, involvement in training, and a record of excellence in scholarship. A successful candidate must have demonstrated excellence in working with faculty, trainees, and administration from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.

Lead efforts to monitor and maintain fidelity to standards of practice and clinical models used within IPU and NSC

Conduct ongoing assessment of clinical services within IPU and NSC to ensure effectiveness of care being provided

Lead quality improvement activities and conduct high-quality research within IPU and NSC

Collaborate with PMHI and Section Leadership to coordinate and collaborate on initiatives, projects, and processes within and across PMHI Sections

Supervision Received
The Clinical Director of Intensive Services reports jointly to the PMHI Chief of Psychology and the Section Head of Hospital-Based Services, with the Section Head serving as the primary lead for daily operations.
Supervision Exercised
The Clinical Director of Intensive Services will supervise (e.g., hire, terminate, discipline, and approve leave) faculty psychologists primarily working in IPU and NSC within the Hospital-Based Section.
