Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Carpentry Teacher to inspire and educate students in the art and science of carpentry and construction trades. In this role, you will deliver engaging classroom instruction, hands-on training, and practical demonstrations to develop students’ skills in carpentry, woodworking, and related technical disciplines. Your expertise will help prepare learners for careers in construction, manufacturing, automotive repair, aircraft maintenance, HVAC/R systems, and other trades that require solid mechanical knowledge and technical proficiency. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople through innovative curriculum development and adult education techniques.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive classroom training on carpentry techniques, construction safety, and trade-specific skills such as welding, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems.
- Develop and update engaging curriculum materials aligned with industry standards and OSHA safety regulations.
- Conduct practical demonstrations on tools, machinery, and systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), hydraulics, and mechanical maintenance.
- Facilitate hands-on projects that reinforce learning objectives in areas such as automotive diagnostics, aircraft maintenance, HVAC/R systems, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations).
- Assess student progress through testing, project evaluations, and skill demonstrations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing safety protocols related to construction sites, electrical work, welding stations, plumbing setups, and HVAC operations.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure curriculum relevance and incorporate current technologies like Blackboard learning management systems for online or blended instruction.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge across multiple trades including carpentry, welding, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC/R, and automotive repair.
- Experience with classroom training or adult education programs focused on technical trades.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and maintenance procedures in industrial settings.
- Proficiency in using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), hydraulic systems, electrical components, and HVAC/R equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices for construction sites and industrial environments.
- Ability to develop engaging curricula tailored for diverse learner needs with a focus on practical skill acquisition.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to teach complex concepts clearly while fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
