Duties
- Greet clients warmly and manage the front desk with professionalism and enthusiasm, creating a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments, confirm bookings, and manage the clinic’s calendar efficiently using veterinary software.
- Handle medical collections accurately, ensuring all billing and insurance documentation is processed correctly.
- Assist with animal restraint, kennel management, and basic animal husbandry to support veterinary procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients about pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up appointments using clear veterinary terminology.
- Maintain organized records of patient histories, laboratory results, and treatment notes in compliance with USDA and DEA regulations.
- Support veterinary critical care activities by preparing animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Provide laboratory assistance including sample collection and processing while maintaining proper animal anatomy knowledge.
- Assist with pet grooming, dog training, or pet grooming tasks as needed to enhance client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all veterinary clinic protocols related to drug administration and animal handling safety standards.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a veterinary clinic environment with a strong understanding of companion animal medicine.
- Demonstrated proficiency in veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office applications for administrative tasks.
- Hands-on experience with animal restraint techniques, catheterization, and aseptic procedures.
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices including emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics and sample processing.
- Experience handling diverse animals such as dogs, cats, horses (equine experience preferred), and other small animals.
- Strong customer service skills combined with excellent communication abilities for effective client interaction.
- Background in animal husbandry practices, pet care routines, and basic grooming or training is advantageous.
- Understanding of DEA regulations, USDA standards, and veterinary terminology essential for compliance and safety.
