Job Description
Position Title: Direct Support Professional
Supervisor: Residential Program Supervisor
Program: RISE Program
Schedule:
2nd shift - Tues. - Sat. 3 pm - 11 pm
2nd shift - Fri. - Mon. 1 pm - 11 pm

RESPONSIBILITIES - DSP:
1. Comply with all Agency and Program policies, procedures and protocols in a professional and ethical manner
2. Abides by all expectations outlined by licensing bodies and contracted partners, including but not limited to COA and DHS
3. Provide supervision as per program expectations, and ensure that all clients have appropriate shelter, nutrition, and care
4. Ensure that the milieu provides physical and emotional safety for all clientele
5. Provide oversight of milieu and ensure that all residents complete daily activities (i.e., personal hygiene, laundry, maintaining a clean living space, etc.)
6. Provide vehicular transportation for clients as needed and assigned
7. Work to ensure the health and wellbeing of both clients and fellow team members at all times by adhering to the Seven Commitments of the Sanctuary Model and the philosophy of Safe Crisis Management
8. Prepare and complete required reports and documentation as per organization and program expectations as well as perform other required administrative tasks assigned
9. Provide client oversight, participate in, or facilitate group meetings and activities specific to program implementation
10. Attend regular supervision with immediate supervisor and provide necessary communication relating to all operations of the program
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor, Program Specialist, or Associate Director
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB - DSP:
1. Physical ability to perform all aspects of safe crisis management, including physical interventions
2. Ability to intermittently stand and sit
3. Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying as required
4. Must be able to describe and articulate events in both written and spoken English
5. Must be able to read and comprehend reports written in English
6. Ability to provide awake supervision of clients at all times
7. Ability to provide vehicular transportation of clients
8. Has the mental and emotional capacity to work in a highly stressful environment
REQUIREMENTS - DSP:
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. One year’s experience working with children/youth in a residential treatment setting or other relevant experience within human services preferred
3. Good written and verbal communication skills
4. 21 years of age or older
5. All clearances as required by state regulations
6. Be sensitive to and comfortable with working in an agency that provides services to a culturally diverse population
PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS - DSP:
The above description is reflective of the core duties and qualifications for all Direct Support Professional (DSP) positions, regardless of level. For individuals to be considered for hire or promotion to the next level, the following additional duties and/or requirements apply:
Direct Support Professional (DSP) II ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
2. Must complete DSP II skills training.
