You clock in and head to your station at Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB). The production ticket is waiting: you read it carefully, collect the materials it calls for, and add your operator’s initials to the ticket. With carts organized—empty ones moved aside, full ones brought in—you set up your machines for the run.
On the double overcaster, Brother quilter, and serger, you stitch borders to panel cloth, fabricate mattress and box spring borders and covers, and overcast both edges of quilter border material rolls. Using foot levers and hand controls, you guide fabric precisely and push aside finished covers for the next step. Between runs, you sort, fold, and stack covers, borders, and panels, and you initial and note the size of the gusset on the flange. If a thread snaps or a needle dulls, you re-thread, replace needles, and keep moving. Your workstation stays neat, clean, and ready for the next build. A ruler is always within reach—you’ll measure accurately and do quick math, including fractions, to stay on spec.
