Arc San Joaquin is looking to hire a Job Coach for our contract site in the Mountain House/Byron area. Work begins in Stockton, CA and Job Coaches will use company vehicles to travel off-site.
Job Coach assignments range from working with individuals 1:1 at their place of employment or working with groups of individuals working at a contract site and/or main site. In either situation, the Job Coach implements individual employment plans that assist individuals to successfully meet their employment goals specific to the work individuals are performing.
Job Coaching a crew involves implementing individual employment plans that assist individuals to meet their employment goals in addition to ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals during the workday and during transportation, if applicable, to and from contract sites.
Except for Job Coaches assigned to a contract site on a regular basis, job coach hours, persons assigned to work with, and employer sites will vary.
If assigned to work at a contract site, a Job Coach may be assigned to bring individuals to and from the contract site using company vehicles. Job Coaches must be insurable, have a valid CA driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.
Implementing an employment plan means having knowledge of assigned individuals, their conditions for employment success, the tasks, routines, and requirements of the job, and effectively coaching them to perform their jobs successfully. Case noting includes direct observations of individuals performing their jobs and describing the type of coaching needed. In 1:1 setting, the Job Coach meets with the individual’s supervisor at least one time per month to discuss the individual’s progress.
Job Coaches turn in all casenotes, and other documents as requested on a regular basis in addition to mileage sheets, vehicle inspection sheets, and gas receipts. Job Coaches attend at least one meeting Safety and General meetings per month and other meetings to discuss consumer progress as assigned. Job coaches may be asked to participate in Individual Employment Plan meetings.
Essential Functions
1. Implements individual employment plans
Standards:
- Provide direct supervision to assigned individuals in individual and group settings
- Instruct consumers to perform the essential parts of their job in addition including following company procedures and protocol.
- Effective communication with employers on a regular basis
- Ability to adjust job coaching based on the needs at the time of job coaching
- Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss progress of assigned individuals.
- Reports issues to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Timely notification to supervisor when schedules change for any reason.
2. Accurately completes all assigned paperwork
Standards:
- Completes progress reports, case notes or other assigned documentation.
- Reports the attendance of assigned individuals.
- Responsible for completing vehicle logs, mileage sheets and other documentation as assigned
- Reports all consumer related incidents to supervisor as per policy
3. Maintain safety standards
Standards:
- Ensures the safety and well-being of persons served, co-workers and others at all assigned locations.
- Utilize worksite standards for maintaining, storing, and using equipment properly
- Complete vehicle inspections daily and report problems to supervisor
- Provide relief to other positions whenever necessary, at the direction of the supervisor
4. Contribute to the mission, values, and goals of Arc-San Joaquin
Standards:
- Support the agency and its programs onsite and in the community to accomplish its stated goals
- To represent Arc-San Joaquin in a professional manner

Education and Experience (Necessary to perform the essential functions of the job)
Standard: A high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Some college or vocational training and 1 -2 years of job-related experience
Job-related experience:
Experience working with developmentally disabled persons in a vocational setting is preferred. Working with persons with various behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, and vocational challenges, either paid or volunteered, is desired.
Environmental Conditions
Indoor or outdoor environment; may be exposed to hot, cold or wet weather; may require exposure to machinery and mechanical tools.
Physical Demands
Essential duties may require maintaining physical condition necessary to perform physical labor. This position does not have guaranteed or set hours. The work schedule could include split shifts (as early as 5:30 a.m.), evenings, holidays, early morning, and weekend hours if at a contract site.
Cognitive Demands
Employee may be driving a passenger van with intellectually disabled consumers to the job location. Employee must be able to maintain focus, have full range of motion of neck/torso and be able to operate foot/hand controls. Must be able to remain calm in stressful environmental situations such as traffic.
