Description:
Country Club Christian Church located in Kansas City, MO seeks a highly skilled organist and collaborative pianist to serve a vibrant church community committed to excellence in worship and music.
Responsibilities:
- Provide service playing and accompaniment (organ and piano) for traditional Sunday weekly services (10:00 in small chapel and 11:00 in main sanctuary) and special worship services including: Christmas Eve (3 services), Easter Sunday (2 services), Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday (extensive solo organ selections)
- Select appropriate organ preludes, postludes, and communion selections (advanced organ literature welcomed and highly encouraged)
- Select appropriate piano and organ offertory music solos and special music selections as needed
- Provide weekly accompaniment both on piano and organ for Chancel Choir rehearsals (Wednesdays 7-8:30pm) and during 11:00 worship
- Accompany soloists/small groups in rehearsals/services as assigned by Director of Music
- Weekly responsive/timely email/text communication of music selections, rehearsal plans, etc.
- Occasionally provide special accompaniment or special music for 9:00 a.m. service
- Occasionally play for weddings and funerals as substitute for Director of Music (additional compensation for these services)
Qualifications:
- A commitment to Christian faith and familiarity with the liturgical year
- Passion for engaging congregations through vibrant worship and music
- Team player who is open to suggestions and willing to take direction
- Exceptional communication skills
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Organ Performance or Church Music and/or Associate of the AGO or equivalent preferred
- Exceptional sight-reading and accompaniment skills of advanced literature
- Superb hymn-playing skills - creative and highly imaginary organ registrations and hymn treatments
- Three or more years professional church experience preferred
- Comfort with use of music technology (i.e. use of iPad Pro for music performance)
- Comfort level in a wide range of musical styles including but not limited to: classical, jazz, gospel, spirituals preferred

- The position is classified as part-time, approximately 10 hours per week
- Salary will be based on qualifications and experience ($12,000 - 15,600) / 4 paid Sundays vacation
