Position: Estimator
Company: August Winter & Sons, a leading mechanical contractor in Northeast Wisconsin, has a position open to expand our Estimating Team.
Position Overview: As an Estimator you will help to build August Winter & Sons project backlog to secure future work for the company. Your focus will be estimating projects involving plumbing, sheet metal, hydronic, and industrial piping systems. The process involves completing quantity take-offs, procuring bid proposals, laborizing tasks, and preparing bid proposals for owners and general contractors.
Primary Job Functions:
- Analyze front-end specifications to identify schedules, sequences, material types, desired manufacturers, labor methods, and special requirements
- Analyze plans, one-line diagrams, and hand sketches to produce accurate estimates.
- Attending job walk throughs when necessary
- Perform layout & sizing of various duct and pipe systems when documents are incomplete to finish estimate
- Perform quantity take-off of piping systems, duct systems, equipment, and miscellaneous material using estimating software to develop material and labor breakdowns
- Solicit and select vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Communicate with project managers potential conflicts or constructability issues
- Participate in bid finalization with project managers
Job Qualifications
- 1-5 years of experience in one or more areas of mechanical construction HVAC duct, piping, plumbing, industrial piping, or wastewater systems
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret isometrics, 2D, 3D drawings and specifications
- Experience with managing multiple projects at the same time
- Excellent abilities and knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Bluebeam,
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to set deadlines and meet goals
- Must be capable of effectively communicating across multiple levels of the organization
- Associate degree in construction Management or equivalent field experience preferred
- Experience with CAD modeling programs is a plus
- Experience in estimation programs -Quotesoft, Trimble or equal pipe and duct programs
