Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring a sterile environment following infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical documentation.
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout treatments to ensure a positive experience.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to streamline clinic operations.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control standards to uphold the highest level of safety for patients and staff.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment, with knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation efficiently.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge, and medical imaging protocols.
- Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and medical coding is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
- Certification in CPR or BLS is preferred; ongoing training in dental assisting techniques is encouraged to stay current with industry standards.
