Seeking a very experienced preschool daycare teacher who is used to leading a daycare classroom of many children 2-5 years old.
We are a well-established in-home daycare with low ratios, a great team of teachers, lots of outdoor play, supportive parents, and the opportunity to build deep relationships with children over several years.
Start date: As soon as possible
Hours: 8:15am-4:45pm Monday-Friday with a 30 minute lunch break each day (approximately 40 hours/week)
Pay: $22-$27/hour depending on experience and fit.
($20-$25/hour paid bi-weekly, with the remaining $2/hour paid as a lump sum at the start of your second year.)
Location: 1857 Mission Street, South Pasadena CA 91030
Duration: Minimum of 1 year, but hopefully many more
Teacher tasks:
· Caring for and teaching up to 9 toddlers, aged 2-5 years old, usually with another teacher
· Occasional help with the 4 babies aged 0-2, and my own children aged 9 and 11
Household Support tasks (mostly when children are napping):
· Including but not limited to helping with
o Meal prep
o Laundry
o Cleaning
o Flipping the Airbnb on site
o Errands such as the grocery store or UPS
Requirements:
Personal Requirements
-Very active: This job is physically taxing (or a great workout depending on how you view it). =
-Attitude of “I can help wherever is needed” (cleaning, caring for toddlers, babies, my children, other household task, food prep, errands, etc.)
-Multitasker (folding laundry while talking to a child about the book they are looking at, cutting veggies while the children play with play-doh at the table, etc.)
-Preferred: Bilingual. Ideally we would like you to talk, sing and read to the babies exclusively in another language such as Spanish or Mandarin Chinese.
Daycare requirements:
-AA or BA in child development, education, or similar field
-Driver’s license with a clean driving record
-Legal to work in the US
Experience Requirements:
-At least 2 complete years as a lead teacher in a classroom for children aged 2-4 years old.
-Experience caring for preschool aged children
-Experience caring for all aspects of infant care (feeding, napping, purposeful play)
Licensing requirements:
-COVID vaccinated and booster, yearly flu shot, negative TB test, measles and pertussis vaccine, willing to get CPR/first aid certified, fingerprinted, and do the online child abuse mandated reporter training and the online preventative health and safety training. (Sorry that there are lots of requirements, but I can help with the process and reimburse any fees after 3 months of employment.)
