Timbers East is looking for a skilled and motivated Kitchen Lead to help oversee daily kitchen operations and support our back-of-house team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality food while helping develop a strong kitchen culture.
Position Summary
The Kitchen Lead plays a key role in the success of our kitchen by assisting with food cost management, ordering and inventory, team development, training, and day-to-day kitchen leadership. This individual works closely with management to maintain operational standards, improve team performance, and ensure exceptional food quality and execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example during all kitchen shifts
- Assist with ordering, inventory management, and food cost controls
- Monitor product quality, portioning, and presentation standards
- Support kitchen scheduling and daily operational needs
- Train and onboard new back-of-house team members
- Coach and develop kitchen staff to improve performance and consistency
- Work closely with management to address performance concerns and maintain accountability
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health department standards are followed
- Assist with prep, line cooking, and station coverage as needed
- Help create a positive, productive, and team-focused kitchen environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience required
- Previous lead cook or kitchen leadership experience preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
- Experience with inventory management and food cost control preferred
- Ability to train and mentor team members
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Current Oregon Food Handler Card required
