Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Utah Litigation Associate to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in a diverse range of legal matters, including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, tribal law and regulations, personal injury law, workers' compensation law, and more. As a Litigation Associate, you will play a vital role in managing complex cases from inception through resolution, providing expert legal research, drafting, and strategic negotiation. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies across various practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, and tribal regulations.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and clarity to effectively advocate for clients.
- Manage all phases of litigation including discovery, depositions, negotiations, and trial preparation.
- Advise clients on legal options related to estate planning, family law matters, landlord-tenant disputes, securities issues, and personal injury claims.
- Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions that align with client goals while minimizing litigation risks.
- Maintain meticulous case files and ensure compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
- Collaborate with colleagues on complex cases requiring extensive research and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the Utah State Bar is required.
- Proven experience in litigation with familiarity in multiple practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, land use issues, or securities law is highly desirable.
- Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw to gather relevant case law and legal precedents.
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive documents.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively on behalf of clients in various legal contexts.
- Knowledge of Idaho-specific laws and regulations related to tribal affairs or land use is a plus.
