Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Optometric Technician/Medical Assistant to join our eye care team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting with ophthalmic examinations, managing medical records, and supporting the clinical operations of our practice. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure smooth clinic flow, accurate diagnostics, and a positive experience for every patient. Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Thursday.
No Evenings or weekends. Includes Paid Holidays & Paid Time Off.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and prepare them for examinations.
- Obtain and document patient medical and vision histories.
- Perform Preliminary testing, including visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry (eye pressure), color vision and depth perception testing, visual field testing, retinal imaging (as trained).
- Assist the optometrist during eye examinations and specialized procedures.
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and proper care.
- Clean, calibrate. and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Schedule appointments and verify insurance information.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient care.
- Follow all HIPAA and Infection Control policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to ophthalmic care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing medical records efficiently.
- Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment like tonometers and A-scan biometry devices.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on providing compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Retail sales experience or optical background is a plus for assisting with optical sales or inventory management.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
