Responsibilities
- Assist lead painters with surface preparation including sanding, caulking, patching, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality
- Use hand tools, power tools, paint sprayers (including conventional spray painting), brushes, and rollers to apply coatings on diverse surfaces
- Prepare construction painting surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking to meet project specifications and safety standards
- Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand project scope and specific painting requirements
- Support the application of structural and commercial paints with attention to detail and precision
- Maintain a clean work area by organizing tools, disposing of debris properly, and adhering to safety regulations including respiratory protection protocols
- Assist with fixture installation, remodeling tasks, and basic handyman duties as needed to support overall project progress
Experience
- Prior construction site experience or hands-on work in renovation projects is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is key
- Familiarity with construction estimating, blueprint reading, and interpreting technical drawings is advantageous
- Knowledge of color theory, visual color comparison, and coating techniques will help you excel in delivering high-quality finishes
- Experience with ladder use, scaffolding, or working at heights enhances safety and efficiency on the job site
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations are necessary for precise application of paint and materials
- Understanding safety regulations related to construction painting—including respiratory protection—ensures a safe working environment for all team members
- A proactive attitude towards learning new skills such as plastering, caulking, fixture installation, or maintenance tasks will set you apart in this role
