The HVAC Journeyman - Projects supports commercial and industrial mechanical projects across the Greater Georgia market. This role is responsible for executing equipment installations, replacements, retrofits, preventive and corrective maintenance as needed, equipment inspections, and field-based HVAC work while maintaining strong safety, quality, schedule, and documentation standards.
This position supports project-based and field-based work tied to HVAC equipment replacements, retrofits, system upgrades, project startup, equipment onboarding, and client site readiness. The journeyman will work with project leaders, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to complete scopes safely and on schedule.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on HVAC journeyman with strong commercial mechanical experience and the ability to support field-based project work across the Georgia market. This person should be comfortable with equipment replacements and retrofits, performing PMs and repairs when needed, using BAS/BMS systems, documenting work accurately, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and helping projects finish safely, on schedule, and to scope.

Strong installation skills across HVAC, controls, airflow, and basic electrical systems.
Ability to prioritize work based on customer impact, safety, project sequence, dependencies, and deadlines.
Comfortable working in occupied and operating facilities where coordination, communication, and documentation are essential.
Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, technicians, and leadership.
Ability to work independently while also supporting a project team.
Strong attention to detail when completing PMs, asset documentation, and service reports.
Professional judgment to know when to repair, escalate, or involve a vendor.
Perform project-related HVAC and mechanical work, including equipment installation and replacement, startup support, and major repairs on RTUs, AHUs, split systems, heat pumps, pumps, condensers, VAVs, exhaust fans, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, VRFs, and related controls.
Support project execution for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients, including equipment surveys, scope verification, equipment staging, installation support, deficiency identification, punch-list completion, and site readiness activities.
Assist with project mobilization and closeout, including locating equipment, confirming model and serial numbers, validating asset lists, coordinating material and parts, and ensuring required documentation is completed.
Use BAS/BMS systems to monitor equipment status, support maintenance activity, place equipment in maintenance mode, verify alarms, and coordinate safe work execution.
Troubleshoot HVAC, airflow, controls, electrical, and mechanical issues and escalate complex repairs when needed.
Follow site-specific procedures, safety rules, LOTO, permit-to-work requirements, and approved project methods while protecting customer operations and installed equipment.
Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, site operations teams, and ABM leadership to complete PMs, repairs, inspections, and project deliverables.
Willingness to travel, stay in hotels, and perform work out of town.
Complete work orders, PM forms, inspection reports, refrigerant logs, and service documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all applicable OSHA, EPA, customer, union, and ABM safety requirements.
Support field-based mechanical project work across the Atlanta market as needed to meet project schedules and client needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

5+ years of commercial, industrial, or institutional HVAC or mechanical project experience.

Hands-on experience installing commercial HVAC equipment such as RTUs, AHUs, split systems, heat pumps, pumps, fan coils, VAVs, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and related controls.

EPA 608 Universal Certification.

Ability to read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and basic mechanical drawings.

Experience using CMMS or work order systems to document maintenance and repairs.

Working knowledge of safe work practices, including LOTO, PPE, SDS, and job hazard awareness.

Valid driver license and ability to travel to client sites across the Georgia area.

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:

Commercial HVAC construction, retrofit, equipment replacement, healthcare, education, manufacturing, hospitality, or other occupied-facility project experience.

BAS/BMS experience with systems such as Johnson Controls, Metasys, Honeywell, Siemens, Trane, or similar platforms.

Experience supporting project mobilizations, equipment replacements, asset verification, equipment onboarding, or site transition work.

Chiller, condenser, cooling tower, pump, four-pipe system, or central plant experience.

Familiarity with permit-to-work, job hazard analysis, site-specific procedures, commissioning or startup documentation, and project closeout requirements.

OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, journeyman license, or local union trade credentials.

Experience coordinating vendors or subcontractors in occupied or active operating environments.
