The Health Information Technician of the HIM Department is responsible for assisting in meeting the daily operations of all aspects of the HIM Department that support the overall goals and missions of Windmoor Healthcare. The Health Information Technician performs and demonstrates proficiency in all activities related to maintaining the integrity and acquisition of medical records. As outlined, assembles and maintains medical records as requested in a timely manner and provides the medical record or patient information to the requesting area. Assures confidentiality of patient records in matters pertaining to disclosure of patient treatment and medical diagnosis, to include filing, retrieving medical records, corresponding with physician, clinical staff and other Windmoor personnel. Understands the flow of medical records and has full knowledge of policies and procedures involving the confidentiality and release of patient information.
Job Requirements:
Completion of High School Diploma or its equivalent. General office skills with a working knowledge of office procedures and equipment. Computer skills beneficial. Previous experience in medical records and/or medical terminology preferred. RHIT or eligible to sit for the RHIT within the next 6 months, preferred.
