A fine-dining restaurant is looking for a Bilingual Japanese/English General Manager to join their team in New York, NY. This position is responsible for the guest experience, team performance, financial and general operations. A bachelor’s degree in a related field, 5 years of management experience (Michelin-level or Japanese luxury hospitality), and deep understanding of Japanese culinary culture and hospitality standards are required. The ability to speak Japanese is a big plus. This is a full-time, in-person, exempt position, with excellent benefits and a 401k.
Bilingual Japanese/English General Manager Duties:
-Lead daily operations across luxury Japanese restaurant to deliver consistent, culturally aligned guest experiences
-Conduct pre-shift briefings every service: reservations, team notes, focus KPI, and one Kando intention
-Support end-to-end process management from pre-opening logistics (setup, training, etc.) to successful launch and stabilization of the restaurants
-Manage daily opening and closing procedures; ensure all standards are met before guest arrival
-Manage P&L responsibilities, including revenue, labor, food costs, and operational expenses
-Monitor labor, COGS, and revenue against targets; report weekly to COO
-Ensure compliance with all labor laws, food safety regulations, and ABC licensing
requirements
-Hire, onboard, train, and develop all unit-level team members
-Conduct monthly KPI reviews for all team members; deliver structured, specific feedback
-Manage progressive discipline in compliance with Company policy and state law
-Coordinate with HR on all personnel actions: offers, changes, separations, and compliance
-Track and respond to all guest feedback: in-person, digital, and internal reporting
Bilingual Japanese/English Food General Manager Skills:
-Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field
-Ability to speak/read/write Japanese is a big plus
-Must have 5 years of hospitality leadership experience; 2+ years as GM (Michelin level or luxury hospitality)
-Deep knowledge of Japanese culinary culture and luxury hospitality standards
