Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring smooth operations and optimal patient outcomes
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence to ensure safety for animals, clients, and staff
- Conduct laboratory work including blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic testing using veterinary software and radiology diagnostics equipment
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, including general anesthesia and veterinary anesthesia monitoring, ensuring patient stability throughout procedures
- Administer medications accurately via IV insertion, animal catheterization, or other routes as directed by veterinarians
- Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, vascular access, and assisting in intensive care situations
- Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, diagnostic radiology tools, and other veterinary apparatus while maintaining aseptic techniques
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about pet care instructions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to foster trust and understanding
Requirements
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in animal husbandry and animal physiology
- Kennel experience and dog handling skills to manage various breeds confidently
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, veterinary surgical assistance procedures, and veterinary laboratory work
- Hands-on experience with IV insertion, animal catheterization, radiology diagnostics, and critical & intensive care practices
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and diagnostic documentation
- Strong animal handling skills across different species including small animals and equine experience is a plus
- Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures clearly and compassionately
