General Statement of Duties:
The purpose of this position is to assist in planning, coordinating, marketing, and executing special events and programs sponsored by or in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department and the Town of Troutman. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Special Events Coordinator and reports to the Parks and Recreation Director. This position will establish relationships with public and private partners and assist with community needs, event preparation and execution, and marketing efforts.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
· Assists the Special Events Coordinator in organizing, preparing for, promoting, and executing programs and special events.
· Assists the Special Events Coordinator in organizing required services, permits, and paperwork required for Town events; also, as required of organizations partnering with the Town of Troutman in an event.
· Assists the Special Events Coordinator with marketing strategies and creating marketing materials for Town programs and events.
· Maintains a working knowledge of the complex needs of a wide variety of programs and events.
· Establishes and maintains relationships with Town departments, committees, and parties involved with events.
· Assists with facility rentals, along with the paperwork and logistics that accompany.
· Assists with program and event set up, tear down, and follow-up process.
· Assists in maintaining organized storage and inventory of Town property/supplies.
· Additional duties as assigned by the Special Events Coordinator and Parks and Recreation Director.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in event planning, public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field; and one to three years of experience in programs, events, and/or marketing. OR an equivalent combination of applicable education and experience.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent customer service, office, record keeping, and communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, key stakeholders, Town officials, and the public.
· Proficiently uses software and systems, including graphic design software and approved social media platforms, with approved Town branding.
· A working knowledge of local and departmental ordinances, policies, and procedures in relation to the Parks and Recreation Department and how they relate to Town programs and events.
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
· Ability to effectively engage with the public, event volunteers, committees, and vendors.
· Meet the mental and physical demands of the job.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
· Must be able to perform light sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force often and 25 pounds frequently.
· During an event, hours can be extensive. Weekend and holiday hours are common as well. There may often be hours of standing, walking, and lifting supplies.
· A portion of work takes place in an outdoor setting, which can include extreme temperatures; i.e., heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather.
Special Requirements:
Must currently possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Pay Range: $45,381.58 - $68,072.38
