Wormley Brothers Enterprises | Home-based within our AL / NC / SC / TN / VA territory — ideally centrally located (e.g., Charlotte NC, the Upstate SC / Western NC corridor, or similar) to minimize drive time to jobs | Full-Time
Wormley Brothers Enterprises is a commercial roofing contractor with active work across Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. We're looking for an experienced roofing professional to fill a role that's part field leadership, part licensing responsibility — someone who wants to run jobs, not just carry a credential.
This is a real, hands-on position, and where you live matters: we need someone based centrally enough in our footprint to reach jobsites across five states without excessive drive time — we're not tied to a single office location for this role. You'll travel to our jobsites across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, run the crews, and own quality and safety on-site — while also serving as our named Qualifying Agent/Qualifying Party with the state licensing boards in AL, NC, SC, TN, and VA. If you're currently qualifying for another contractor, or you're an experienced superintendent ready to take on the licensing side of the business, we want to talk to you.
What you'll do
- Travel to and directly supervise commercial roofing jobsites across Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia — working alongside our metal, tile & shingle, and single-ply membrane crews.
- Own quality control, safety compliance, and schedule adherence on every job you're assigned to; coordinate materials, crew scheduling, and submittals with our project managers.
- Serve as the on-the-ground point of contact for general contractors, building officials, and inspectors on traveling jobs.
- Hold and personally maintain our Qualifying Agent/Qualifying Party designation with the state licensing boards in AL, NC, SC, TN, and VA (and support Georgia as needed).
- Sit for and pass required state exams, complete continuing education, and keep renewals current in every state you're qualified in.
- Make sure every project stays within the monetary classification your license tier allows, and flag it early if a job would exceed it.
- Be the named point of contact for board correspondence and any compliance matters — you're the face of record with the state, and we back that role with real support.
What you bring
- 3+ years of supervisory or qualifying-party experience in commercial roofing or general contracting, ideally in the Southeast.
- An active NASCLA Accredited Examination certificate, or an active qualifying license in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia — huge plus, since it can waive the trade exam in reciprocal states and gets you working faster.
- Willingness to be home-based somewhere central to our AL/NC/SC/TN/VA territory — we're flexible on the exact city, but a home base far outside this footprint (e.g., a coastal or single-state-corner location) won't work for the travel demands of the role.
- A clean licensing and disciplinary record — you'll be asked to disclose background and financial information as each state board requires.
- Genuine willingness to travel extensively (60–80%) and work the field — this isn't a desk job with a license attached to it.
- Comfort being the named contact with state boards, local building departments, and inspectors.
- Hands-on crew leadership experience — running metal, shingle/tile, or membrane crews, or ready to cross over quickly.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Compensation & benefits
- Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience.
- Additional monthly Qualifying Agent responsibility premium, paid for as long as you're actively serving as QP/QA of record — this is separate, ongoing compensation for the licensing role, on top of your field pay.
- Sign-on bonus available.
- Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, plus mileage, lodging, and meals covered while traveling.
- Standard company benefits package.
- This is a full-time W-2 position — not a license-only or 1099 arrangement. We want a real employee running real jobs.
Why this role
Most "qualifying party" postings out there are asking you to lend your license to a company you don't actually work for. This isn't that. You'll be a genuine part of the team — running jobs, leading crews, and getting compensated fairly for the licensing responsibility you carry across multiple states. If you're ready to combine field leadership with a real seat at the table, we'd like to hear from you.
