Cybersecurity Administrator

Job Overview
The Cybersecurity Administrator is responsible for maintaining and improving the security posture of The Schroer Group's technology environment. This position serves as the primary owner of vulnerability management, patch management, backup administration, security compliance activities, and remediation efforts identified through managed security services, audits, and risk assessments.
The Cybersecurity Administrator works closely with Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Desktop Support staff, and third-party security providers to ensure that servers, endpoints, network devices, applications, and cloud services remain secure, compliant, and operational. All actions performed must adhere to company security policies, HIPAA regulations, and applicable industry standards.
Description of Duties
Vulnerability Management
- Administer and maintain enterprise vulnerability management platforms and security monitoring tools.
- Review vulnerability scan results and security findings from third-party SOC and managed security service providers.
- Prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk levels and business impact.
- Coordinate remediation efforts with Systems, Network, and Desktop Support teams.
- Verify that remediation activities have been completed successfully.
- Develop and maintain vulnerability remediation reporting and compliance metrics.
Security Operations
- Review and investigate security alerts escalated by third-party security monitoring providers.
- Monitor enterprise security dashboards and reporting systems.
- Conduct periodic security audits and assessments of systems and infrastructure.
- Assist in security incident response investigations and containment efforts.
- Review privileged account activity and identity security controls.
- Maintain security baselines and configuration standards.
Patch Management
- Own and manage enterprise patch management processes for:
- Windows Servers
- Linux Servers
- Workstations and laptops
- Hypervisors and virtualization platforms
- Network infrastructure
- Storage systems
- Microsoft applications and services
- Third-party software platforms
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance windows.
- Monitor patch compliance across all company systems.
- Research and evaluate vendor security advisories and critical updates.
- Produce regular patch compliance reports for IT leadership.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Administer and maintain enterprise backup solutions.
- Monitor backup job success and failure reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backup-related issues.
- Perform periodic backup restoration testing.
- Coordinate disaster recovery testing activities.
- Maintain backup and disaster recovery documentation.
Endpoint & Identity Security
- Administer endpoint protection and endpoint detection and response platforms.
- Manage and monitor Sophos XDR security components.
- Review and monitor multi-factor authentication compliance.
- Assist with Conditional Access policy administration.
- Conduct periodic access reviews and privileged account audits.
- Assist with identity governance initiatives.
Infrastructure Support
- Provide secondary administration and support for:
- Active Directory
- Microsoft Entra ID /Microsoft 365
- VMware
- Windows Server environments
- Linux Server environments
- Microsoft Exchange hybrid
- Storage and backup systems
- Assist in implementing infrastructure security improvements and modernization projects.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
General Responsibilities
- Work with end users and IT staff to identify and resolve security-related issues.
- Maintain documentation within applicable IT systems and platforms.
- Assist with HIPAA, cybersecurity insurance, compliance, and audit activities.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance activities when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, cybersecurity, infrastructure administration, or related technical roles.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server administration and security.
- Experience with vulnerability management and remediation.
- Experience administering enterprise patch management solutions (MECM).
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, VPNs, and enterprise security controls.
- Experience troubleshooting server, desktop, and application issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, or infrastructure support.
- Experience working in healthcare or regulated environments.
