Title: Water Meter Technician
Reports to: General Manager
Hours and Compensation: Full-time, ~40 hours/week, paid hourly, non-exempt, pay rate will be commensurate with experience and skills
The Company: Mid America Meter, based in the Maple Plain, Minnesota, sells, tests, and services water meters for municipal and industrial clients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on shop and field work testing, calibrating, inspecting, cleaning, refinishing and repairing flow meters.
- Handle shipping and receiving including scheduling and documentation
- Maintain inventories of meters, parts and accessories
- Help with customer service, trouble shooting, and phone assistance
- Work with vendors and suppliers as needed
- Maintain shop equipment, shop supplies and facility as needed
- Follow all safety and workflow processes
- Wear appropriate uniform
- Perform other projects and duties as needed
Work Environment: Applicant will work in a mechanical shop and in the field as needed.
Schedule: generally 40 hours a week as assigned; shop hours are currently 8:00 am to 4:30 pm M-F, and candidate’s schedule will typically correspond with shop schedule (8 paid hours a day, and a 30-minute unpaid meal break around noon).
Physical Requirements: regular lifting of meters, boxes and equipment up to 50-60 lbs. required. The Company provides a dolly and pallet stacker for use on heavier items.
Travel Requirements: Some field service work within the Company’s service area.
Required and Preferred Qualifications: high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license
Relevant Work Experience desired: 2+ years of shop/mechanical work and customer service, or equivalent relevant technical education
Technical Skills:
- Ability to learn meter maintenance, assembly and disassembly, testing and calibration
- Basic Windows PC skills, Word, Excel, QuickBooks inventory, company testing software
- Administrative and math skills required to accurately receive, ship and maintain inventory

Base Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
