Position Summary
The Yard Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard to support warehouse loading operations. This position ensures trailers are properly positioned, inspected, organized, and ready for dispatch while coordinating with warehouse management to meet operational needs and delivery schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Move empty and loaded trailers to and from warehouse dock doors to facilitate loading operations.
- Park loaded trailers in their designated parking locations within the yard.
- Inspect trailers to ensure they are clean, free of debris, and equipped with required items, including wood and rollers.
- Maintain the cardboard trailer by ensuring cardboard is stacked neatly and the trailer remains organized.
- Coordinate with Warehouse management regarding special routes, schedule adjustments, and other operational needs.
- Verify that all DS route trailers are fully loaded and properly parked before the end of each shift.
- Ensure all required transportation paperwork is delivered to the Petrey Montgomery location before leaving for the day.
- Perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies, DOT regulations, and applicable operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience required.
- Ability to safely maneuver tractor-trailers in confined yard areas.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse management and transportation personnel.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday.
- Work hours will be established by Warehouse management.
- Daily hours may vary based on workload, holiday schedules, operational demands, and changes in Warehouse operations.
- Long hours may be necessary at times.
Must complete all required pre-employment screenings (background check, MVR, drug screen, etc.)
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
