About the Role
The Safety Coordinator supports the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of NEEC’s health and safety programs across active project sites. This role works closely with field teams, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company policies.
The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture, conducting site inspections, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring that all personnel operate in a safe and compliant manner throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Implementation:

Support the execution of NEEC’s safety policies and procedures across all assigned projects

Assist in developing and maintaining site-specific safety plans (SSSPs)

Ensure compliance with client safety requirements and project-specific standards
Site Monitoring & Compliance:

Conduct routine site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments

Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and work with teams to implement corrective actions

Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and applicable state regulations
Training & Communication:

Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training sessions

Promote safety awareness and best practices among field personnel and subcontractors

Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding safety expectations
Incident Management:

Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns

Document findings and support root cause analysis and corrective action plans

Track and report safety metrics, including incident rates and trends
Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation

Ensure all required permits, certifications, and safety documentation are up to date

Support internal and external safety audits
Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers, commissioning teams, and engineers to integrate safety into all phases of work

Coordinate with EPC contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with NEEC safety standards
Qualifications
-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

2+ years of safety experience in construction, utilities, substations, or renewable energy projects

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards

OSHA 30 certification required

Strong observational, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to travel extensively and work in active construction and energization environments
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, or substation projects

First Aid/CPR certification

NFPA 70E certification
-
Forklift & MEWP certification
-
CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or similar certification
-
Familiarity with incident reporting systems and safety management software
