Urban Alternatives, Inc, a real estate property management company, is seeking a Full-Time Apartment Maintenance Technician. Our office is based in Chicago, IL in the Austin neighborhood. We manage properties in Chicago, IL and Gary, IN. We are a family-owned business with about 25 employees and 1 friendly goldendoodle office dog.
JOB OVERVIEW FOR Apartment Maintenance Technician (Experienced Level)
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance work orders for our residential properties. This is not a janitorial role.

- Full-Time, 40 hours
- Must be available for emergency calls, monthly rotation with bonus
- Must have own tools
- Valid Drivers License & car insurance, SSN, and a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor in varied conditions
- Must be able to communicate in English
QUALIFICATIONS/GENERAL WORKING KNOWLEDGE IN:
- Experience in a maintenance, facilities or technical role
- Ability to demonstrate troubleshooting systems with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. (changing outlets, lights, installing toilets, p-traps, diagnosing leaks, patch/paint, etc)
- Drywall repair
- Change locks
- Troubleshooting or repairing appliances
- Other general maintenance knowledge relating to roofs, masonry, etc.
- Extermination experience is a plus
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Being Punctual, Reliable and Ready to Work
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, and perform physical labor in varied conditions
- Work Independently, willing to troubleshoot before asking for help
- Ability to communicate, have a neat and professional appearance
- Extermination experience also a plus!
