In this role, under the direction of the optometrists, the Optician assists the optometrists in the exam and care of the patients and office.
Essential Job Functions:
Greet and sign in patients, securing and updating all demographic information.
Provides cost information based on patient status and level of service, informing patient of all financial responsibilities; updating all insurance and employment information.
Documents each appointment, confirms future appointments, updates patient appointment schedule daily, and assists in patient recall. Recall cards, FB page, instagram.
Pulls insurance information for each patient visit and files insurance information after each visit.
Orders glasses and contact lenses for patients.
Obtain patient history, including: chief complaint, history of present illness, past ocular and medical history, family history (ocular and medical), and history of allergies and medications.
Perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks including:
Visual Acuity
Manual lensometry
Confrontation visual fields
Motility evaluation
Pupillary function
Stereo testing, Color plates
Competent in performing diagnostic testing, including: visual field testing, OCT, Pachymetry, and fundus photos.
Understands the basics of ophthalmic coding and codes for all testing performed.
Assist in all aspects of optical dispensing, contact lenses, product orders and delivery.
Continue position with training, when available.
Attend staff meetings weekly. Full staff meetings monthly.
Assist with ordering and supervising maintenance on the facility and equipment.
Assist with information technology.
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
