Timber Ridge School is a 12-month residential treatment center licensed and fully approved by the Virginia Dept. of Education for adolescent boys experiencing emotional difficulties and other disabilities. We are located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley just NW of Winchester, VA.
As a Special Education Teacher job requirement include:
· Establishes and maintains an appropriate setting for attainment of educational goals established for the students within the classroom, including, but not limited to, maintaining classroom conditions, supplies, materials, and equipment.
· Develops lesson plans which are appropriate to student needs and aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning.
· Manages classroom behavior in a manner that supports a learning environment and is consistent with Timber Ridge School Behavior Support System.
· Facilitates the delivery of lessons in a manner that is responsive to student’s intellectual level, is based on sound educational strategies, and is intellectually engaging.
· Participates in the overall assessment of each student's needs, program, and progress as a part of a treatment team.
Bachelor’s degree required with certification, or eligibility for certification, as a teacher in Virginia and endorsement in Special Education. Experience in teaching preferred. Additional compensation potential for second endorsement in other content area when added. Primary hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Mon-Fri.
