Job Summary: Under indirect supervision performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of mammography images. Responsible for the care of the patient while in the mammography center.
Hours/Days: Vary depending on coverage need and candidate availability
Major Job Functions:
- Maintains data in MRS/MagView for all patients.
- Maintain cleanliness of mammography rooms.
- Explain procedure to patients and maintain patient safety.
- Obtain patient’s clinical history as appropriate to procedure.
- Start and end patients on computer.
- Follow all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
- Fill out incident report as needed.
- Performs diagnostic/screening mammography which includes work up for symptomatic patients and additional imaging for abnormal mammograms.
- Assist radiologist with breast ultrasound exams.
- Performs bone densitometry studies.
- Communicate with patients in a respectful, appropriate and courteous manner.
- Performs QC tests as needed.
- Receives and unloads clinical supplies when delivered.
- Present diagnostic/screening breast cases to radiologist for review.
- Keep rooms stocked with all appropriate supplies.
Specifications:
- Education: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Experience: No post graduate experience required.
- Certification/License/Registration: ARRT registered in Mammography required. CPR certification required. Maintains Continuing Education Credits.
- Position Titles and Number Supervised: None.
- Special Training/Skills: Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Must display courtesy and empathy toward patients, co-workers, and physicians. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Must have good communication skills and be discrete with confidential information. Demonstrate punctuality and dependability and ability to make good use of clinical time.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to move about freely. Must be able to assist in the lifting of physically compromised patients. Must possess sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform tasks remotely located too the patient.
- Working Conditions: Works in a medical facility. Subject to electrical, chemical, and radiant energy hazards. Exposure to infectious disease and lifting hazards. Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day. Must stoop and bend in the course of job performance. Must lift patients, film cassettes, and supplies.
