Lead Commercial HVAC Installer
Job Summary
The Lead Commercial HVAC /Installer is responsible for overseeing the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial buildings. This role involves leading a team of technicians, ensuring high-quality work, compliance with safety standards, and excellent customer service. The Lead Installer will manage projects, and coordinate with clients and other contractors to ensure efficient system performance. This role will include installation and/or service of commercial HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and Maintenance: Oversee and perform the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial HVAC systems: roof top units, split systems, air handlers, and air distribution.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of HVAC technicians, assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients and GCs to understand their needs, provide technical recommendations, and ensure satisfaction with completed work.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards, including proper handling of refrigerants and adherence to EPA guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, parts used, and time spent on projects.
- Training and Development: Train junior technicians on best practices, safety protocols, and advanced HVAC techniques.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an HVAC apprenticeship or vocational training program preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a commercial HVAC installation, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Certifications: EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) required; additional certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, or manufacturer-specific credentials preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals; expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex HVAC systems.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks at heights or in varying weather conditions.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license; state-specific HVAC contractor license may be required.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position with potential for overtime.
- Including evenings and weekends, with approval, depending on project demands.
- Work primarily performed at commercial sites, including offices, warehouses, hospitals, and retail spaces.
- Exposure to mechanical equipment, high voltages, and potentially hazardous materials, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
