We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Part Time Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support dentists by performing advanced chairside procedures, assisting with complex dental treatments, and ensuring a smooth patient experience. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your knowledge of dental terminology, infection control, and medical documentation, will contribute to delivering exceptional care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists with a variety of procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry treatments.
- Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques and maintain strict infection control protocols.
- Take and develop X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to infection control standards.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health practices.
- Support administrative tasks such as verifying medical history, updating medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist with scheduling when needed.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Collaborate in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize efficiency during treatments.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to ensure precise communication.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in expanded functions roles within a busy dental clinic setting.
- Hands-on experience with X-ray techniques, 3D scanners, and other dental imaging tools.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques specific to dental environments.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical documentation standards, and medical coding practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
