Position Overview
The Commercial Superintendent is responsible for leading daily field operations on commercial construction projects including ground-up, tilt-up, and tenant improvement work. This role ensures projects are built safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards while acting as the primary onsite point of contact for subcontractors, trade partners, project management, and owners.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise all onsite construction activities from mobilization through project closeout on commercial projects (ground-up, tilt-up, tenant improvements).

Develop, monitor, and drive the construction schedule; proactively identify delays and implement recovery plans to meet milestones and completion dates.

Manage subcontractors and onsite labor: coordinate scopes, sequence work, enforce performance expectations, and resolve trade interface issues.

Maintain strict adherence to safety programs and OSHA requirements; conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

Control field-level cost performance by monitoring labor productivity, tracking material usage, processing time and material tickets, and supporting change order documentation.

Perform quality control and inspection coordination; ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and applicable codes; address punch lists promptly and effectively.

Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, RFI logs, submittals, permits, site photos, and as-built records using company systems.

Coordinate with project management, estimating, engineers, architects, and owners to resolve technical issues, approve subcontractor work, and keep stakeholders informed of progress and risks.

Oversee commissioning, testing, and final inspections; manage punch list completion and project turnover to the client with complete closeout documentation.

Mentor and develop site personnel, promote teamwork, and foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.

4+ years of construction field operations experience on commercial construction projects, including demonstrated experience with ground-up, tilt-up construction and tenant improvements.

Proven ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents; strong working knowledge of construction means and methods.

Solid track record managing schedules, subcontractors, budgets, and quality on complex commercial projects.

Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, or similar), scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar), and MS Office.

Current OSHA 30 certification required; first aid/CPR and other safety certifications preferred.

Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills; ability to make timely decisions under pressure.

Valid driver's license; ability to work flexible hours and travel to multiple job sites as required.

Physical ability to work in the field environment, including climbing, lifting, and occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
