About the Role
Firetree is a licensed cultivation facility in Oak Harbor, WA seeking a hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Lead to help keep our building, equipment, and mechanical systems running smoothly.
This role is responsible for maintaining the facility, supporting routine maintenance, helping prevent equipment failures, and assisting with general building upkeep. Our facility relies heavily on mechanical systems, water systems, environmental equipment, and hydroponic infrastructure, so we are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment.
Cannabis or grow-facility experience is not required. Strong maintenance, mechanical, facility, construction, or trade experience is more important.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot facility systems including HVAC, dehumidification, pumps, hydroponic/irrigation systems, plumbing, RO water systems, compressors, lighting, fans, low-voltage wiring/cabling, basic electrical, and general building systems.
- Create, follow, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, and logs for facility equipment, building upkeep, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Perform routine inspections to help identify leaks, equipment issues, airflow problems, worn parts, clogged filters, or other facility concerns before they become larger problems.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of facility areas, including fan grates, mechanical rooms, utility areas, common areas, grounds, and general building condition.
- Handle light construction and facility improvement projects, including drywall repair, painting, framing, equipment installation, running cables/conduit, light plumbing, and minor repairs.
- For larger projects, coordinate and help lead outside contractor crews as needed.
- Respond to urgent facility issues as needed, including leaks, HVAC or dehumidification failures, pump failures, power/equipment issues, and major environmental swings affecting facility operations.
- Track parts inventory and help order maintenance supplies such as filters, belts, fittings, pumps, bulbs, hardware, tools, and repair materials.
- Schedule and coordinate vendors, gather quotes when needed, meet contractors onsite, verify work was completed properly, and report issues or recommendations to facility leadership.
- Assist with cultivation room turns and facility resets, including moving equipment, cleaning infrastructure, preparing rooms between cycles, and supporting facility work needed to keep operations on schedule.
- Follow safe work practices, keep work areas clean, identify and report hazards, use PPE when appropriate, and follow lockout/tagout or other safety procedures when applicable.
- Perform both skilled maintenance work and routine facility upkeep as needed to keep the property, equipment, and building systems clean, organized, maintained, and operating properly.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically sharp, reliable, and comfortable working around a variety of facility systems. This person does not need to be an expert in every trade, but should be capable of troubleshooting, learning, following maintenance routines, and knowing when to involve the right vendor or contractor.
This role is a good fit for someone with experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, mechanical systems, commercial buildings, agriculture, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or similar hands-on environments.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of maintenance, facilities, mechanical, construction, or trade-related experience preferred.
- HVAC experience is strongly preferred, but not required for a mechanically sharp candidate who is eager to learn and able to troubleshoot equipment, follow maintenance schedules, and work with vendors.

- Basic computer/tablet skills preferred. Ability to follow and maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and work orders is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Must be 21+.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet Washington cannabis employment requirements.
- Must be comfortable working in a licensed cannabis cultivation facility and following facility rules related to cleanliness, security, safety, and compliance.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to respond quickly when urgent facility issues arise.
- Must be able to work independently, manage routine tasks, and follow through with minimal supervision.
