American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level II Trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and active NE or compact RN license.

Level II Trauma acute care hospital ICU setting with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
-
Adult patient population including trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adult ICU patients

RNs are required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation

RNs are required to read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips; GE monitors are used with tele tech oversight
-
Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation

Epic EMR is used in this position

12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)

Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required

Floating may be required to PCU or occasionally Med/Surg at ratios of 1:4 or 1:5

Minimum of 2 holidays that fall within the contract period are required

On-call response time of 30 minutes required if called back in after being placed on call

13-week contract

Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted

Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications will not be accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required

Ability to titrate drips and manage patients on mechanical ventilation and other respiratory support
-
Driver's license required for consideration, used to verify permanent address for radius eligibility

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Nurse aides are available based on census and may assist with 1:1 sitters or general floor support; a Healthcare Support Tech is available 3 days per week (Mon–Fri, 0800–1630)

Orientation consists of 1 unit-specific shift; a pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on Wednesdays during orientation and requires a minimum score of 90% to pass — failure results in contract termination

Travelers are added into the self-scheduling system after core staff scheduling is completed; block scheduling is not approved except for weekends-only arrangements

Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments — refusal to remove them will result to contract termination

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity Health, within the past year are not eligible — those who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after consideration
