Position Overview:
The Assistant Program Director serves as a key leadership team member within the RMDC Royal Summer Experience (RSE). This role supports the overall management, coordination, supervision, and daily operations of the summer camp program while ensuring a safe, structured, engaging, and positive environment for all campers, staff, and families.
The Assistant Program Director works directly under the Program Director and assists with overseeing staff performance, camper behavior management, activity coordination, scheduling, parent communication, operational logistics, and emergency response procedures.
This position requires strong leadership, professionalism, organization, communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced youth program environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily management and supervision of the RMDC Royal Summer Experience program
- Support implementation of all camp schedules, activities, field trips, performances, workshops, and special events
- Supervise and support Group Leaders, Assistant Group Leaders, Specialists, Interns, and support staff
- Assist with staff check-in/check-out procedures, attendance tracking, break coverage, and staff accountability
- Monitor camper attendance, safety, behavior, transitions, and overall engagement throughout the day
- Help enforce RMDC policies, procedures, discipline standards, and safety regulations
- Assist with conflict resolution involving campers, staff, and parents in a professional and appropriate manner
- Support communication with parents regarding camper concerns, incidents, reminders, and program updates
- Help coordinate and oversee arrival, dismissal, transportation, and field trip procedures
- Ensure classrooms, activity spaces, and shared areas remain organized, clean, and properly supervised
- Assist with supply inventory, equipment organization, and daily operational needs
- Step in to assist with activities, classroom coverage, or leadership support when necessary
- Assist in handling emergencies, incident reporting, injuries, and behavioral situations according to RMDC procedures
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and positive representation of RMDC at all times
- Support preparation for showcases, performances, competitions, and end-of-program events
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Prior experience working in youth programs, camps, education, dance, recreation, childcare, or leadership roles preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage groups of children in a structured and positive manner
- Ability to multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable supervising staff and enforcing policies professionally
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Experience in dance, performing arts, youth development, or summer programming is a plus
- Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, supervise activities, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor activities and trips
- Ability to lift and transport supplies or equipment when necessary

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and assigned responsibilities.
