Department Generalist Job Description
This position has responsibility for accomplishing critical and core functions related to the External Transfers & Insights Department within the Operations division. Department Generalists are self-motivated individuals who enjoy partnering with others to implement change and resolve issues and operate as a bridge between the associates and their leader
Applies advanced operational and technical knowledge to serve as a trusted resource for leaders, associates, and branches, supporting the execution of departmental priorities, initiatives, and business objectives.
Provide oversight and accountability for vendor partnerships, ensuring performance expectations, service commitments, and operational standards are consistently met while driving issue resolution and continuous improvement.
Serves as a key contributor within the department by resolving complex issues and escalations, sharing expertise, and supporting the successful achievement of team goals and service commitments.
Monitors, analyzes, and reports on departmental performance, including timeliness, quality, productivity, and other established performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Conducts quality reviews, provides constructive feedback, and supports associate development through knowledge sharing, coaching, and reinforcement of best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
Utilizes data analysis and reporting tools to identify trends, operational risks, capacity impacts, and opportunities to enhance service delivery and business outcomes.
Partners with leaders, associates, and business stakeholders to evaluate existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend practical solutions that improve effectiveness, consistency, and scalability.
Demonstrates curiosity and adaptability in learning new technologies, business processes, and automation solutions while helping translate business needs into actionable improvement opportunities.
Participates in the development, testing, implementation, and adoption of process improvements, reporting solutions, and automated workflows to support evolving business needs.
Leverages data and operational insights to support decision-making, prioritize improvement opportunities, and measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
Collaborates with cross-functional partners to gather requirements, document business processes, and contribute to initiatives that enhance associate, branch, and client experiences.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or relevant work experience is preferred. Appropriate securities registrations will be required if it is required for the work in the department.
- Experience with High Risk complex processing, Process Improvements, and working with On Shore processes, and oversight of Off Shore procedures.
5+ years of experience in a financial services environment (i.e. brokerage, banking, insurance, etc.) required.
Specific licenses may be required, but only if the specific function is covered by a Rule that requires it. Series 99 license is preferred. Series 7 is preferred.
