Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families.
FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. FCSA is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and was one of the first organizations to be licensed by the state to establish, recruit, and monitor foster homes.
About the Job
Family Centered Services of Alaska is looking for a qualified individual to serve as the Director of Nursing for our organization. The Director of Nursing will provide nursing clinical supervision, primary support to the RTC and Community Based Services Psychiatrist, attend MDTs, and Medication Management Meetings. The selected individual will ensure files are up to date for appointments, provide nursing services to adolescents admitted to FCSA programs and ensure documentation of care rendered. Lastly, the Director of Nursing will coordinate treatment with other disciplines.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain close working relationship with FCSA RTC and Community Based Psychiatrist’s and Management staff.
2. Ensure all charting and filing is completed timely.
3. Ensure client record is in compliance with applicable state laws and FCSA policy and procedure. .
4. Ensure that orders are carried out as instructed by physician, ensure that quality, timely and compassionate medical care, first aid, assessment, and treatment is provided to each client every time by each nurse assigned.
5. Ensures that all follow up medical treatment is provided as instructed or prescribed.
6. Evaluate, per policy, each assigned staff’s work performance, ensuring the consistent and appropriate treatment decisions are made and followed.
7. Instruct nurses in the proper performance of their duties.
8. Ensure coverage for medication administration.
9. Recruit, hire and train nurses as needed.
10. Provide direction to unit staff as it pertains to clients medical issue.
11. Audits of controlled substances.
12. Identifies needs and secures supplies to ensure appropriate and judicious use by staff.
13. Utilize oral and written communication skills with clients, parents and staff.
14. Produce work that is accurate, neat, and complete.
15. Ensure all nursing staff maintains compliance regarding CEU’s as it pertains to licensure yearly.
16. Teach Medication Administration Class for new hired employees as needed.
17. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 2. RN, BSN preferred with two years of psychiatric experience required and experience in a supervisory capacity.
3. RN licensure in Alaska - maintain licensure through state required hours and other specific required training.
This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position.

Pay: $83,700.00 - $98,000.00 per year
