Legal Assistant
Position Title: Legal Assistant for law firm with national practice.
Reports To/Collaborates With: Managing Attorney(s) and paralegal.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and compassionate Legal Assistant to support a managing attorney and his paralegal in a fast-paced civil litigation practice, national in scope. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, collaborative, hard-working and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strict confidentiality and providing exceptional client care and service.
The Legal Assistant will assist with case management, document preparation, client communications, scheduling, and general administrative support throughout all stages of litigation and the managing attorney’s office management work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, proofread, format, and file legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and discovery.
- Maintain electronic and physical client files in an organized and confidential manner.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and third parties.
- Schedule meetings, depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation deadlines.
- Monitor attorney calendars and maintain litigation deadlines.
- Assist with preparation of discovery responses, document production, and trial materials.
- Coordinate medical, employment, financial, and other records requests.
- Prepare correspondence and routine legal documents for attorney review.
- File documents with state and federal courts, including electronic filing where applicable.
- Organize exhibits and case materials for depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial.
- Answer telephones, greet clients, and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain billing records, track costs, and assist with client invoicing as needed.
- Perform general administrative duties to support attorneys and office operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or paralegal/legal assistant certificate preferred.
- Prior experience as a legal assistant or in a law office preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with legal case management software is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Personal injury litigation
- Civil litigation
- Sexual abuse or trauma-related litigation
- Discovery and trial preparation
- Electronic court filing

- Strong proofreading and grammar skills.
- Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a collaborative team.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interact with clients compassionately and professionally, particularly those who have experienced trauma.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift files or boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
