The Opportunity
Real Estate Business Analytics (REBA) is on a mission to change how apartment owners and operators use and leverage data. As a fast-growing, well-funded software company in the real estate technology space, REBA is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the financial statements, monthly close, financial reporting and core accounting operations.
You'll be accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of our financial statements and drive continuous improvement across processes and controls. This role is ideal for someone ready to take full ownership of the accounting function's day-to-day execution and shape how it scales with the business. This position reports to the Controller and is 100% remote.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee the daily operations of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, payroll allocations, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation, setting priorities and resolving escalations
- Own the monthly and annual close process. You’ll set the calendar, manage execution across the team, and be accountable for hitting deadlines with accurate results
- Own the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet, ensuring reconciliations are complete, reviewed, and resolved
- Own the customer invoicing process and ensure efficient revenue operations
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic business decisions
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and other relevant financial regulations and be a key player in audit readiness
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, owning the audit timeline, deliverables, and resolution of findings
- Manage federal, state and local tax filings and compliance obligations in partnership with external advisors, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
- Key player in systems implementations
- Assist with special projects from scoping through delivery, process automation, and technical accounting assessments
What You’ll Bring
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Public accounting firm experience is a plus
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; start-up or high-growth company experience is a plus
- Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based software environment, including recurring revenue accounting and ASC 606, is required.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (QuickBooks, Ramp), Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and demonstrated judgment on technical accounting matters
- Understanding of financial controls and multi-state tax reporting and compliance
- A track record of taking ambiguous problems and driving them to resolution without waiting to be asked
- Experience building scalable accounting processes and working in a remote environment
Communication and Other Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail with a drive for accuracy
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities
What Success Looks Like
- The close runs reliably and gets faster over time, with you accountable for the outcome.
- Financial statements are trusted by leadership, auditors, and the board without rework.
- Audits conclude on schedule with minimal findings, and findings that do arise get fixed for good.
