The ReStore Assistant Manager helps lead a customer-focused, mission-driven retail and donation operation. You’ll support daily store and warehouse activities, help manage a team of associates, and ensure donated items are safely processed, accurately priced, and ready for shoppers to discover great value while advancing Habitat’s mission.
Oversee daily retail, sales floor, and warehouse activities to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
Confirm donated items are in good repair and ready for sale before placement on the sales floor.
Maintain attractive, organized, customer-friendly merchandising displays.
Research, evaluate, and price donated merchandise using online resources, market trends, and knowledge of customer demand.
Identify high-value merchandise for online sales platforms or alternative sales channels.
Coordinate with the marketing director to support social media marketing and online product postings.
Monitor inventory turnover and recommend items for markdown, promotion, or disposal.
Ensure customer purchases are picked up within established timeframes.
Support daily register reconciliation and deposits.
Track inventory and ensure accurate reporting.
Assist with physical inventory counts and tracking to ensure accurate record keeping.
Open and close the ReStore according to established procedures.
Help load furniture, appliances, and large items into customer vehicles safely and efficiently.
Maintain compliance with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), OSHA, and organizational safety standards.
Oversee upkeep of restrooms, offices, conference room, and break room.
Ensure excellent customer service at all times.
Ensure Team Leads and the Warehouse Supervisor are appropriately delegating tasks.
Manage daily store operations in the absence of the ReStore Manager.
Directly supervise 10–12 ReStore associates.
Lead, train, and coach a diverse team; help set annual performance goals and monitor results.
Meet daily with the Procurement Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, and Team Lead to review expectations and priorities.
Meet daily with the ReStore Manager for store walkthroughs and alignment on goals.
Lead regular ReStore staff meetings with the ReStore Manager.
Support a “safety first” culture by maintaining an up-to-date Safety Manual and completing daily safety checks.
Address employee issues professionally and in a timely manner.
Ensure staff understand and follow affiliate policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensure all staff can communicate the Habitat ReStore and affiliate mission to the public.
Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator to prepare for incoming volunteers and volunteer groups.
Create a welcoming, engaging, and rewarding volunteer experience.
Assign volunteer tasks that match skills and operational needs.
Delegate tasks effectively to ensure volunteers have clear roles and support throughout their shift.
Ensure volunteers understand safety procedures and customer service expectations.
Provide exceptional customer service and help create a positive shopping experience.
Resolve customer and donor concerns professionally, in collaboration with the ReStore Manager.
Build positive relationships with customers, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Assist with loading and unloading donated materials and merchandise.
Ensure donation guidelines are consistently followed by staff and volunteers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
