Grace Dental, a private dental practice in St. Petersburg, is looking for a part-time Dental Hygienist to join our team. Dental Hygienist duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth, and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. You are our preventative care advocates! You will assist the dentist in determining our patients' treatments for teeth or gum diseases. As a Dental Hygienist, you should be reliable and able to build trust with patients of all ages. You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and be able to bring attention to possible oral diseases and anomalies. If you love preventative dentistry, we'd like to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
- Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
- Review medical records for relevant health information to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Take X-rays and/or dental impressions when applicable
- Identify conditions such as gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
- Clean and help protect patients' teeth (i.e. remove plaque or apply fluoride varnish)
- Educate patients of all ages on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
- Follow infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures for dental instruments and equipment
- Support pediatric dentistry services when applicable, ensuring a gentle and caring approach for young patients
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security
Requirements
- Licensed to perform as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Florida
- Available to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Experience in preparing and maintaining dental instruments and equipment
- Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific care approaches is not required, but preferred
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities
- A patient and friendly personality
