Our company is a fast-growing cannabis oil manufacturer located in Van Nuys, California. We are scaling production and constantly optimizing our oil extraction operations and looking for an experienced technician to operate our extraction and manufacturing equipment. Currently we produce bulk ingredients for some of the highest-regarded cannabis companies in California, and we are in the process of activating additional equipment to allow vaporizer, edible, and pre-roll manufacturing in-house.
The manufacturing technician will quickly learn the extraction process, and follow written procedures to extract cannabis oil efficiently and consistently. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for learning and performing maintenance and cleaning procedures in order to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Manufacturing and scientific experience will be useful, although not required, to succeed in this position. As an early employee in a start-up environment, the technician will have the opportunity to grow significantly with the company over time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for completing extraction cycles from start to finish (weigh and change out biomass, clean machines and components, execute specific machine protocols).
- Enter production data into inventory control programs.
- Adhere to written and verbal directions independently and without supervision.
- Keep detailed records and complete production checklists. Alert a manager when process deviation occurs.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner with little supervision to minimize production down time.
- Use basic maintenance equipment and tools to complete repairs.
- Ability and willingness to perform all jobs assigned by the facility manager.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe extraction environment. Ensure that all equipment are in consistent, safe operating condition by following the cleaning schedule and upholding facility standards.
- Perform assigned duties in a dependable and efficient manner and work quickly to maintain the extraction schedule.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing or scientific field.
- Mechanical, electrical, and/or laboratory experience is a plus.
- Cannabis extraction, distillation, and/or formulation experience is a plus.
- Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently so as to comprehend equipment manuals, information regarding hazardous chemicals and all equipment instructions, warning signs and decals.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic, recordkeeping, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of both metric and standard units of measure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for most of an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels, and exposure to mild fumes and dust.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Scientific degree or certificate is a plus.
- Willingness to wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses and masks) to minimize risk of injury.
- Must have reliable transportation and consistent attendance/punctuality.
