General Manager - Marina
The General Manager oversees all operations, administration, and development of the marina. This role ensures efficient business performance, exceptional customer service, safety, and staff development while maintaining the highest operational standards.
Financial & Operational Management
- Oversee the creation of the annual budget proposal, including a prioritized wish list with justifications for each item.
- Annually recommend rate reviews for the upcoming season - relative to competition and occupancy trends.
- Review marina and boatyard occupancy and operational reports relative to revenue.
- Grow revenues through diligent advertising and overall management.
Business Oversight & Engagement
· Conduct regular physical site visits to the marina, boatyard, and office to observe performance, staff morale, maintenance requirements and customer interaction
- Oversee and guide all projects from conception to completion, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Review and adjust seasonal schedules ensuring adequate coverage.
Customer Relations
- Address customer concerns promptly, acknowledging receipt and coordinating internally for resolution.
- Oversee and support events to ensure successful outcomes and positive representation of the business.
- Ensure staff consistently deliver outstanding customer service and go the extra mile to enhance customer experience.
Team Leadership and Support
· Ensure managers, supervisors, and team members receive appropriate on-the-job training and professional development opportunities.
· Provide mentorship, encouragement, and recognition to promote staff engagement and excellence.
· Lead and motivate the marina team, helping them create remarkable experiences at every location.
Marketing, Communications & Public Engagement
- Determine the most effective advertising platforms and strategies for our marketplace
- Plan and schedule advertising initiatives to optimize seasonal visibility and investment returns.
- Oversee the website and ensure it remains up to date, informative, and engaging.
Security
- Regularly liaise with security supervisor to discuss improvements and address issues.
- Ensure all camera systems are functional (including thermal radar) and ensure optimal functionality with IT support.
- Investigate and oversee any incidents involving security breaches.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 10 years of Marina and/or Boatyard operations management experience (or equivalent hospitality/facility operations with significant marine/boatyard component).
- Familiarity with marina management systems and scheduling software is a plus.
- Professional certification such as Certified Marina Manager (CMM)
- Boating or yachting background is a plus (understanding boat slip leases, moorings, fueling operations).
- Proven track record of P&L accountability, operational efficiency, budget management, and team leadership in a large marina, yacht club, resort marina or related facility.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills: ability to motivate, train and manage staff; recruit seasonal and full-time team members; foster high guest-service culture.
- Solid problem-solving skills: the ability to address immediate needs and quickly find resolutions to issues
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
