Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Technician to support our healthcare team in providing exceptional patient care. This role involves assisting physical therapists in delivering treatment plans across various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and post-acute care facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in patient service, anatomy, and medical terminology, with experience in hospital or outpatient environments preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with diverse patient populations, including geriatrics, orthopedics, and those in acute or sub-acute care, contributing to their recovery and rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists with patient intake, setup, and preparation for therapy sessions
- Support patients during therapy exercises, ensuring proper technique and safety
- Monitor patient responses and report any concerns or adverse reactions to the healthcare team
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment activities
- Prepare treatment areas and ensure equipment is clean, organized, and functioning properly
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions and ensuring comfort throughout therapy sessions
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records as needed
- Educate patients on post-treatment care instructions under supervision of licensed therapists
Requirements
- Prior experience in hospital or outpatient clinic settings preferred, especially in orthopedics, geriatrics, or post-acute care
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practice
- Strong patient service skills with a focus on compassionate care and effective communication
- Experience working with inpatient or outpatient populations in acute or sub-acute care environments
- Ability to assist with intake procedures and support patients during therapy sessions
- Familiarity with hospital medicine protocols and outpatient clinic operations is a plus
- Certification or training related to physical therapy assisting is advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team in fast-paced settings
